Production/Customer Service Team Player

We are a forward-thinking, small organic personal care products crafting company and fair trade goods retailer seeks an articulate, enthusiastic, creative/artistic and flexible individual who enjoys participating in a variety of tasks on a daily basis and who appreciates the small team atmosphere and opportunities in working for a small organic retail/wholesale business.
The Production/Customer Service Assistant provides production and office assistance, organization, retail/wholesale customer service to our organic personal care business. This is a part-time position—approximately 20-24 hours per week and does include some weekend retail store assistance. There may be a possibility of additional hours or full-time work in the future for the right individual.
Examples of Duties
- Printing, laminating, cutting and applying labels to personal care products.
- Fulfilling, packing and shipping orders.
- Answering the phone and providing wholesale/retail organic customer service by phone, email and in person.
- Some work as an educator/salesperson in our retail store in Frederick, MD.
- Office assistance: organizing, filing, purchasing supplies, etc.
- Receiving and checking in mail and supplies.
- Occasional work as a newsletter and/or social media coordinator and/or content contributor.
Examples of Desirable Personal Qualities, Skills and Experience:
- Strong computer skills in Word, Excel and web applications. Must be able to learn new computer skills quickly, especially those relating to e-commerce and social media.
- Must be detail oriented and an articulate communicator.
- Must be organized, efficient and have excellent communication skills.
- Previous experience in an office support setting.
- Strong customer service skills and previous experience in a wholesale/retail customer service setting.
- Passion for organics, an environmental lifestyle and sustainability, and fair trade.
- Once trained, must be able to speak competently about organic product labeling.
- Graphic design and/or photography, and writing skills.
- Familiarity with QuickBooks Bookkeeping and Point of Sale (POS) software.
- Must be respectful, reliable, trustworthy, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must be flexible and constantly open to learning.
- Must be able to calmly and gracefully flow from task to task, and enjoy wearing many hats.
- Must be able to follow through projects from initiation to completion.
- Must have an interest in an organic lifestyle, skin and hair care, fashion and the fair trade philosophy and handcrafted artisan products.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Working for an e-commerce business.
- Fulfilling, packing and shipping orders.
- Working for an organic business or working with organic products.
- Working for a small business.
- Working in production—crafting products in some capacity.
